Gardens and Tonic: How to Print Your Garden
June 17, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
Like gardening, the simple process of nature printing stirs our kinship with the earth and charges our creative energies! In this presentation, Laura Bethmann will demonstrate how she creates beautiful, life-sized images by inking and hand-printing garden plants and fruits. A nature printer and artist for over thirty years, Laura will show you the simple hand-printing process, her supplies and materials, and many of her nature prints created on paper, fabric, and other surfaces. She will also discuss how this intriguing, ancient art and science was practiced throughout history and by luminaries such as Leonardo da Vinci and Ben Franklin. If you love the botanical world you’ll enjoy trying this fun, magical garden art form for yourself!
Laura Bethmann is a watercolor painter who gardens, prints plants, and writes books. Laura has exhibited and taught workshops for museums, botanical gardens, universities, and for many organizations in the US and England. Of her three published books, two are about the joys, how-to’s and history of Nature Printing.
